Contract synopsis
The Avon Fire and Rescue Service provide emergency and protection services to the communities of Bath & Northeast Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
In 2022, Avon Fire Authority identified a need for a building services Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor to provide M&E planned maintenance, compliance assurance and testing, response repairs, and improvement projects/quoted works across all authority owned sites.
We delivered planned and reactive maintenance, statutory testing of all building electrical services installations, comprising of (but not limited to):
- Fixed Wiring
- Distribution Boards
- Switch Gear including Generator Connections
- Vehicle and equipment charging equipment
- Electrical Heating (including trace heating)
What have we achieved?
Since starting the contract, we have carried out multiple upgrades and installation works to their AC conditioning systems, heating and LED lighting, within a timely manner limiting the time the stations were without heating/hot water. The fire stations include:
Weston Fire Station
We project managed a full LED lighting with built in motion sensors throughout to achieve LUX levels. The lighting upgrade was a value of approximately £12,000.
Avonmouth Fire Station
We undertook the supply and installation of a commissioned two Mitsubishi PLA-M71EA2 ceiling cassettes, approximately £8,000 job value. In simpler terms a new air conditioning unit was installed in the mess room. The mess room has a kitchen with a lot of equipment and the room was already heating up, so they wanted to remedy this before the summer. It had air conditioning which they put on the highest setting, but it was not enough to cool the room. We obtained a quote to add an additional unit to the room and the site have not had any issues since it was installed.
Bath Fire Station
We project managed the supply and installation of a new Lochinvar Eco charger water heater as the unit which was in situ on site failed and was beyond repair. We quickly organised a quote and the works were carried out in a timely manner to limit the stations down time without hot water.
Portishead Fire Station
Our in-house team supplied, installed, and commissioned a new Worcester 8000 35kw combination boiler. The existing boiler failed, and we were able to efficiently install a new one quickly meaning the station downtime without heating was minimal.
