Employing more than 5,600 people across the UK, the Group was ranked 7th overall as best big company to work for in the Best Companies’ annual league table for 2024.
As well as providing an enhanced employee offer, the Group is also committed to supporting colleagues’ health and wellbeing which was recognised this year by being shortlisted for the Best Companies Special award for wellbeing.
As a large employer, Mears recognises the role it plays in supporting its local communities. The Group offers over 120 people a year the opportunity to learn on the job through its successful apprenticeship programme. It also gives every one of its colleagues two days a year to volunteer for good causes. Through its independent charitable arm, the Mears Foundation, part of the Mears Group, £246,000 was donated last year to charities and initiatives that support positive changes in local communities.
