Mears scores full marks

Mears, which provides home care and support services to over 120 people living in Dudley has been awarded full marks by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the body that inspects and regulates care services in England.

In a routine inspection, the CQC assessed the local team of 45 care workers providing home care services and supported living to people of all ages and abilities. The CQC visit focused on four of the essential standards; care and welfare of people who use the services, consent to care and treatment, staffing and complaints. The CQC awarded Mears with full marks in each of these categories.

The CQC spoke with service users and reported that people were consulted about their care and were able to choose services suitable to their individual needs. Care workers catered for personal preferences and people were satisfied that they could enjoy living independently within their own homes, knowing they had the support they needed to keep them safe and well.

One person the CQC spoke with said: "Living in your own home is so important and I can only do this with the help of Mears."

Joanne Briscoe, Manager of Mears, Dudley, said: "The Mears team works hard to ensure that we deliver the highest quality of person-centred care at home. Passing this assessment with full marks is testament to the dedication of our staff in delivering services tailored to individuals in Dudley."
