Mears Group is an Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award holder and, as part of our ongoing commitment to support our armed forces personnel, we attend a number of jobs fairs across the country where we are able to showcase Mears as an employer and provide advice and identify potential opportunities within the business.

Members of our recruitment team and Armed Forces Support Group recently attended a CTP (Career Transition Partnership) Job Fair at Newmarket Racecourse. The events are arranged by CTP who provide comprehensive resettlement support services for personnel leaving the Armed Forces, as they transition from their military career into employment, further education or retirement as well as for up to two years after leaving, in the form of employment support.

More than 171 service leavers and 146 exhibitors attended over the course of the four-hour event.

Corporal Barnaby Rudge is currently serving, and attended the event to consider his options for when he's ready to move on. He said:

It was a great event to attend and have a scout around the stands and look at potential options. I am not due to leave at this time, but it was a good opportunity to talk to businesses that would be able to provide me with a career away from the military.
